(These are just a handful of the dozens of variations you might get landing your browser at leefeldman.com.)
There's a fine line between the classic and the idiosyncratic that Lee Feldman balances on, quite artfully so.
I have had the privilege of designing nearly all Lee's releases after the first two. (They're pretty good, too!)
I've now had the pleasure of observing up-close, his lifelong commitment to improvisation, even (especially!) in the context of “pop” music. This is a guy who—to borrow of his lengthier song titles—seems compelled “Trying to Put the Things Together that Never Been Together Before.”
I tried to bring some of Lee's joyous juxtaposition and whimsy to his site via the element of... randomness.
More specifically, the left panel image is randomly chosen every time, and there are dozens of options in the generator. There are photos of Lee both ‘promotional’ and obscure, details and outtakes from all kinds of album artwork, random photos from his environs and a couple of stock images that resonated with either of us.
When it works, it works. And even when it doesn't work, it still works.
